Who we are

Citilec (Pty) Ltd, trading as Citilec Electrical & Lighting Wholesalers (“Citilec”, “we”, “us”), registration number 2005/022163/07, VAT number 4090223142, is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website. We respect your privacy and process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to respond to you and to supply our products and services:

• Contact and quote enquiries: name, email address, phone number, message and the products you add to a quote.
• Account, COD and credit applications: business and personal details, contact details, trade references, banking and credit information, identity and supporting documents you upload, and details of directors or sureties as required by the form.
• Newsletter and WhatsApp sign-ups: your name, email address and/or phone number, and your marketing preferences.
• Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited and clicks (for example WhatsApp, phone and quote clicks), collected through cookies and analytics tools such as Google Analytics and, only if you accept, the Meta Pixel.

Why we use your information

• To respond to enquiries and prepare quotes.
• To assess and manage account, COD and credit applications, and to supply goods and services.
• To send newsletters, promotions and WhatsApp updates, only if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time.
• To keep our website secure, understand how it is used and improve it.
• To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business (for example website hosting, email delivery, analytics and credit-reference or verification services) and where the law requires it. These providers may process information outside South Africa; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected.

Cookies, analytics and the Meta Pixel

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your quote list, measure traffic with Google Analytics and understand how visitors use the site.

With your consent we also use the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel. It records which visitors arrive from our Facebook and Instagram posts and ads and what they do on the site (for example WhatsApp, phone, email and quote clicks and form submissions), so we can measure and improve our advertising. The Meta Pixel only loads if you click Accept on the cookie notice. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the footer, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser.

How we protect it and how long we keep it

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect your information. We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, after which it is deleted or de-identified.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to object to its processing, and to withdraw your consent (including to marketing) at any time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.
